The skirts scoot on too quickly, that's why there's too much skirt. The feed dogs grab that backing and hurry it through the needle, at a faster rate than the top layer. I suspect this is in large part rayon, though again, I didn't make these covers. I had access as I did replace them.

Polyester Velvet

I swore I would never do a poly slipcover, but this was not quite as bad as I imagined. This cover did not require a walking foot, even at the thick parts. This is Modelo, I will add manufacturers info when I get it. As with all polys, it does not breathe ( allow air to pass through ) this example is pretty heavy, and the seat cushion fabric sticks to you pants when you get up. It does seem to wash well, I will test a sample with many washings to know for sure.

Cotton backed polyester Herringbone Twill.

http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/22111101

lightweight poly unbalanced shiny plaid

Though I will work until it's perfect, this fabric choice is several problems rolled into one. It's much too lightweight, half what I would prefer ( 10 ounces per yard is ideal ).

**

It has zero elasticity, it's a left - right unbalanced plaid with a designated right side and wrong side created by a woodgrain design added sheen, and it has a slippery-ness that makes the cushions slide right off the chair !

**

Ideally fabric would be all cotton, which will usually stretch 1.5" over the width of 54" ( 3% ), and would have no sheen of any kind. Unbalanced plaids can work out fine, but require additional yardage.

**

By the time I got to the zipper insertion, I had an inch gap instead of an inch seam allowance to spare. Fixable, with considerable effort, but typical, as a leetle too much taken in each seam will create the problem.

**

It did press well, on a poly setting, and thankfully, the chair allowed a good match everywhere, which is luck, this could have had a worse outcome.

LAURA
MULTIFLORA
END USE:
Bedding, Pillows, Table Coverings, Light Use Furniture, Slipcovers, Cushions
WIDTH:
54"
REPEAT:
Vertical - 0.50"
FIBERCONTENT:
52% Cotton, 48% Polyester
ORIGIN:
Taiwan
